Kasparanskiy dene
In Tomsk region the Cenozoic silts have a wide distribution and they take the main part of the region. At the beginning of the 20th century A. M. Zaicev pointed to the wide development of the white tertiary flexible cledges and grey cherty malmrocks by the rivers Basandaika, Ushaika and Bolshaya Kirgizka. Among well studied and described geologic outcroppings with the bands of fossil organic feces there is a natural landmark – Kasparanskiy dene. It is on the left bank of the river Bolshaya Kirgizka, in the area of Shestakovskiy ground (suburbs of Svetliy village), 10 km far from Tomsk.
The outcropping is a rapid mountain bank with the length about 200 m and the height about 40 m.
In the modern stratigraphical sectional plane the outcroppings of Kasparanskiy dene belongs to indivisible Lagernotomskiy (P3It) and Novomihailovskiy (P3nm) suites of the upper oligocene.
The type of a state geologic natural landmark:
Paleontological, paleogeographic, geomorphic.
The meaning for humankind:
Scientific and educational, recreational, aesthetic. It`s a rare geologic outcroppings, that shows the geology aspects of the Earth crust. The landmark is unique for its scientific meaning because it gives an idea of the development of biological variation on the Earth. It is used in scientific area because it gives an idea of the development of biological variation on the Earth. It is also a place for excursions and scientific researches. Several times a year the administration gathers volunteers for cleaning the dene and its surroundings. People cut dry branches off, throw the garbage away and tear the grass out.
The outcropping is built of soft sediments of Rezhenskiy depression. The upper part of the outcropping log is alternation of grayish-yellow, yellow sands with grey, yellow cledge layers. In the lower part of the outcropping there are two lenses of brown coal (0,8 and 1,5m), they are in dark brown cledges with yellow sand layers. The low part of the outcropping is built of white layer cledge, in the foundation of it there are dark brown sands, coloured by oxides Mn. In the modern stratigraphical sectional plane the outcroppings of Kasparanskiy dene belongs to indivisible Lagernotomskiy (P3It) and Novomihailovskiy (P3nm) suites of the upper oligocene.
